One of the utmost adored and timeless fashion styles around the world is the vintage Riviera style. Now this particular style is actually inspired by many of different cultures, especially the cultures that deal with heat. Linen, silk and satin are the main ingredients to this meal, and although many would love to wear it, most only stare at it and admire it from afar.
I know if you looked at my Instagram, you would have no idea that the majority of the Instagrammers I follow are vintage selling shops that not only have a keen eye for the Riviera style, but they also put major effort into what they post, but that is most definitely the case. Each one of them has a different style, but it is clear each one cares to keep up with the effortlessly chic persona in each post. Although I follow much more than five of these genre of shops, these are my top 5:
Na Nin Vintage
The Virginia-based shop was created by Kate Jennings in 2009, but the store is not a local hidden gem. Nanin is one to follow, and with both of their Instagrams having a total of 101.8 thousand followers, it seems like many people agree. Inspired by the Korean translation of “I am,” Na Nin inspires others to be effortlessly his/herself. With such popularity on social media, the vintage line has been able to travel around the nation and across the border in 30 countries.
Noble Studio
Named after the founder Courtney Noble, Noble Studio is not only a vintage shop but a reconditioned vintage shop. Ms. Noble reconditions the pieces by sometimes even hand-altering them. With her heart in the right place, she started the studio to help others, and herself reduce landfill waste that most of us forget that clothing does, especially fast fashion. Not only does she post pieces found on her website, but she posts inspiration photos that suit her aesthetic (and tags the Instagram where she found them). It’s clear she has a keen eye for burnt orange in the golden hour, so if that suits your fancy, I highly recommend.
Mirth Vintage
If you need another neutral and sun-infused Instagram to follow, here it is. Found in the district of Greenpoint, Brooklyn in New York, this shop is both men and women’s clothing. With only a few followers - less than 8,000- it is still clear the store is not closing anytime soon with the amount of popularity it has in the city. With pictures of their latest finds to pictures of their sunlight shop, the store never ceases to inspire those who want to be effortlessly chic.
IAMTHAT
Another Insta-famous vintage line, having more than 46 thousand followers, this shop is a clear indicator people love timeless pieces. Located in Portland, the store is always posting on Instagram pictures that you wish you were a part of. Their white wall makes a great spot for taking pictures, and they quickly realized that keeping the theme clean and classic, sometimes with a pop of new scenery such as a lake or the grass.
UMA
This shop is one of my favorites, and I wouldn’t have found it without them following me first. Created by Gabrielle Aleksandra, the designer vintage clothing store is nothing like the rest. Although it too has the sunny vibe, and virtually everything is neutral with some pops of red, the places they shoot film are beyond gorgeous. They find houses and another assortment of places to photograph. However, the shop does something that I haven’t seen the rest do, and that is the video tape the pieces. So not only do you see the clothing in the perfect light, angle, and body like the other Instagrams, but you get to see what it looks like whilst the model descends the stairs, stretches her arms, or walks along the countryside. And with only a little under fifteen hundred followers, it’s clear this shop is immensely underrated.
